Don Julio 1942 is one of the most iconic expressions in the world of tequila, a bottle so celebrated it earned the title of tequila's first unicorn. Aged a minimum of two and a half years in white American oak barrels previously used for bourbon, this anejo from Jalisco's Atotonilco el Alto region delivers a depth of character that has made it a genuine collector's staple.
Produced at NOM 1449 in the highlands of Jalisco, Don Julio 1942 is crafted from mature blue agave and aged in hand-selected bourbon barrels that lend exceptional richness and complexity to the final spirit. The extended aging process, longer than required for the anejo category, is what sets this expression apart from the crowd.
- Nose: Inviting aromas of caramel, cooked agave, vanilla, and toasted oak that open beautifully with a little time in the glass.
- Palate: Lush and layered, with cooked agave taking the lead alongside toasty oak, silky vanilla, and a hint of dark chocolate.
- Finish: A long, warming finish that lingers with the elegance you would expect from a premium anejo tequila.
Don Julio 1942 is exceptional sipped neat or on a large ice cube, and it elevates classic cocktails like the Tequila Old Fashioned and the Paloma into something truly memorable.
Best enjoyed neat or over a single large ice cube to let the full range of flavors unfold. Crafted from blue agave grown in the highland region of Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico.
