100% Agave vs Mixto Tequilas

Agave vs Mixto Tequilas

Number 1 rule in choosing a premium Tequila: always choose 100% agave—and if you want the cleanest expression, start with the Additive-Free collection. Tequilas that say 100% Blue Agave on the label are Tequilas made from just that, 100% Blue Weber agave—then it’s all about choosing a style (including long-aged Extra Añejo) that fits your palate. Tequila Mixtos on the other hand, are only required to be made from 51% Blue Agave sugars, and the other 49% can be made from any other kind of sugars - usually cane or high fructose corn syrup. In addition to other sugars, mixto producers usually add colorings, flavorings, and thickeners to make it look like its a premium tequila. No thanks!
