The Tequila Region of Los Altos

The Tequila Region of Los Altos

Take a two hour drive north-east of Guadalajara and you will soon find yourself in the rolling hills of the Los Altos region.

Most towns in this region are located at 5,500 - 7,000 feet in altitude compared to the areas near the town of Tequila in the Valley that are just under 4,000 feet.

The higher elevation means cooler temperatures, and even sometimes, a little bit of snow! Some of the wonderful brands produced in Los Altos are San Matias in Tepatitlan de Morelos, La Alteña distillery in Arandas, El Pandillo Distillery in Jesus Maria, and Atotonilco el Alto, is home to Siete Leguas as well the Patron and Don Julio.
