Few bottles carry the legend of Don Julio 1942, an ultra-premium anejo tequila from Jalisco that has earned its place as one of the most coveted expressions in the world. Named in honor of the year Don Julio Gonzalez first planted his agave fields in Atotonilco el Alto, this is a spirit that defined what luxury tequila could be.
Crafted at Diageo Mexico Operaciones under NOM 1449 in the highland region of Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, Don Julio 1942 is aged a minimum of two and a half years in white American oak barrels previously used for bourbon. That extended rest transforms blue Weber agave into something genuinely remarkable, drawing out layers of complexity rarely found in the category.
- Nose: Warm caramel, sweet cooked agave, toasted oak, and rich vanilla
- Palate: Cooked agave leads into toasty oak, vanilla, and a deep thread of dark chocolate
- Finish: Long and lingering, with a satisfying warmth that stays well after the last sip
Don Julio 1942 shines in an Anejo Old Fashioned, where its vanilla and oak depth pair beautifully with a touch of bitters and orange, or simply elevates a Tequila Sour to something special.
Best enjoyed neat or over a single large ice cube to let the full complexity open up. Made from blue Weber agave grown in the highland terroir of Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco.
