A Sip Tequila exclusive, this single barrel reposado tequila from Fortaleza represents one of the most extraordinary aging experiments in artisan production: 11 months resting inside rare 500-liter cognac casks crafted entirely of French oak, each over 50 years old and sourced from the only master artisan cooper in France.

Produced at NOM 1493 in the Tequila region of Jalisco under the stewardship of Master Distiller Guillermo Sauza, this expression begins with single estate agave and follows a fully traditional, additive-free process. The four antique cognac casks, supplied exclusively by French coopers Yves and Jean Noel Pelletant, impart a depth and character you simply cannot replicate with conventional barrels. A portion of profits from every bottle supports the Tequila Interchange Project.

  • Nose: Ripe stone fruits, cooked agave, cognac, banana, and bright citrus
  • Palate: Deep agave sweetness layered with vanilla bean, warm oranges, roasted apples, and spicy nutmeg
  • Finish: Toasty and warming with cinnamon spice and a lingering richness of butter

The warm fruit complexity and spiced finish make this reposado a natural fit for an elevated Paloma or a classic Old Fashioned where the cognac cask influence adds a genuinely unexpected dimension.

Best enjoyed neat or over a single large ice cube to let the barrel character fully open up. Single estate agave, Tequila, Jalisco. Limited release, one bottle per customer while supplies last.

The Mission 1530 program is a collaboration between four of the most respected Tequila producers in Mexico and a man on a mission to help preserve the tradition, culture, and sustainable practices utilized by each producer. During the start of the COVID pandemic, Tequila icon and Tequila Interchange Project (TIP) President David Suro met with Mission 1530 founder Jason Krasno to discuss the agave crisis and the impact TIP could have on the industry. David and Jason then joined forces with Carlos Camarena, Salvador Rosales, and Guillermo Sauza to create four beautiful high-proof Tequilas aged in Cognac casks. A portion of all proceeds from these extremely limited Tequilas will be donated to TIP with the goal of preserving the culture and tradition of the Tequila Industry.
