─ Behind the Brand ─

About Tekiah Tequila

Tekiah was founded by Greg Sobol of Michigan, who grew up in a Mexican-Jewish home with a mother born in Mexico City. The name is the long shofar blast of the High Holidays, and the idea came to him at Rosh Hashanah services in 2023. It is 100% blue agave, certified kosher by the Orthodox Union and made at NOM 1574 from agave grown in Michoacán. The agave is cooked in a low-pressure autoclave, crushed in a roller mill, fermented in open-air steel tanks and distilled twice in a stainless pot still with a copper coil.

Location: Michoacán
Distillery: Destiladora de Tequila Marava
Agave: Blue Weber, Michoacán
Cooking: Low pressure autoclave
Milling: Roller mill
