About Tepozan

Tequila Tepozán is one of the few Tequilas that is considered, truly, farm to glass. Agaves used to create Tepozán are estate grown using organic principles, then distilled and bottled at the source in San Julián, by Master Distiller Don Carlos Padilla. Tepozán is hand crafted here without use of any additives of any kind and is a Confirmed Additive Free by Tequila Matchmaker.

If you were to search for San Julián up on a map, you might wonder why Tequila El Tepozán is produced in such a remote place? The location was chosen by means of a simple wire divining rod, that revealed a natural mineral spring, 400 meters underground. This volcanic rock-filtered water is used throughout the creation of Tepozán, from steaming the agaves, to dilution of the final expression. The semi-artisan factory allows the team to be more personal in the creation of the Tequila, without neglecting the benefits of modernity, and bring together the best things from both worlds.

The word “Tepozán” comes from a plant (Buddleja cordata), said to only grow if there is gold in the ground it is taking its nutrients from.
