Aged beyond the ordinary, Compoveda Extra Anejo Tequila is a rare expression from El Arenal, Jalisco that spends over five years in French Oak barrels seasoned with fine California red wine before finishing in new, medium-charred American Oak. The result is a spirit of extraordinary depth, shaped by Master Distiller Alberto Partido and defined by a naturally sweet complexity that few extra anejos can match.

Produced under NOM 1477 in the lowlands of Jalisco, Compoveda's meticulous dual-barrel aging process draws richness from the wine-soaked French Oak while the American Oak finish adds structure and a warm, toasted character. This layered approach transforms blue agave into something that bridges the worlds of fine tequila and premium barrel-aged spirits.

  • Nose: Bourbon-forward warmth opens alongside cooked agave, cinnamon, and rich caramel.
  • Palate: Medium-bodied with vanilla, red jammy fruits, toasted oak, and lingering caramel sweetness.
  • Finish: Complex and lasting, with a refined depth that rewards slow sipping.

Compoveda Extra Anejo shines when sipped neat, but its bourbon-kissed richness also elevates a classic Old Fashioned or a Tequila Manhattan beautifully.

Best enjoyed neat or on a single large ice cube to let its full character unfold. Compoveda Extra Anejo Tequila is crafted from blue agave in El Arenal, Jalisco, and makes an exceptional gift for any serious spirits enthusiast.

NOM: 1477
Compoveda is a sipping tequila founded by Keith Antoon and made with three master distillers at three family distilleries in Jalisco. Sergio Cruz makes the Blanco at NOM 1414 in Arandas, Sixto Verá García makes the Reposado and Añejo at NOM 1068 in Capilla de Guadalupe, and Alberto Partida makes the Extra Añejo at NOM 1477 in El Arenal. The agave grows at least seven years and is hand harvested, then roasted low and slow for nearly 48 hours. The aged bottles rest in ex-bourbon and Stag's Leap Cabernet barrels, or in French oak that once held California red wine. It all began with Partida's Extra Añejo.
LOCATION

El Arenal, Jalisco

El Arenal sits at about 1,450 meters in the Tequila valley west of Guadalajara and is known as the gateway to agave country. Its name comes from the sandy ground of the first settlement, and it belonged to Amatitán until it became its own municipality in 1923. Most of the land is flat or gently rolling farmland on volcanic rock, planted with blue agave and corn. Tequila making is the main industry, and the town lies within the Agave Landscape that UNESCO named a World Heritage Site in 2006.
