El Gran Legado Reposado is a masterclass in thoughtful barrel work, rested 120 days across American Oak ex-Bourbon barrels, Sherry casks, and French Oak ex-Cognac VSOP single barrel fills before a 30-day stabilization in stainless steel. The result is a reposado tequila of rare balance, confirmed additive free by Tequila Matchmaker and crafted at the legendary Cascahuín distillery in El Arenal, Jalisco under the steady hand of Master Distiller Salvador "Chava" Rosales.

Produced at NOM 1123, Cascahuín is one of Jalisco's most respected distilleries, and El Gran Legado draws on agaves harvested in Michoacan to bring an expressive, terroir-driven character to this reposado. The multi-barrel aging approach layers complexity without sacrificing the bright, clean agave core that defines a great Jalisco tequila.

  • Nose: Cooked agave, vanilla, butterscotch, caramel, and a warm hint of leather.
  • Palate: Round and soft on the mouth, with cooked agave and butterscotch leading into delicate fruity and floral notes.
  • Finish: Medium bodied with a smooth, soft-textured finish that lingers gracefully.

El Gran Legado Reposado shines neat or on the rocks, and its layers of caramel and vanilla make it a natural fit for an Old Fashioned or a Tequila Sour where the spirit's character can take center stage.

Best enjoyed neat or over a large ice cube to let the full complexity open up. Crafted from agaves harvested in Michoacan and distilled in El Arenal, Jalisco.

Created at the Cascahuin distillery (NOM 1123), El Gran Legado uses mature agaves grown in Michoacán that are are cooked via steam injection in the traditional stone ovens for 3 days and then given an extra day to cool down before being crushed on the distillery's roller mill. Fermentation occurs in open air stainless tanks before the double distillation begins. The first distillation happens in Cascahuin's stainless steel alembic still with a copper coil and the second distillation takes place in the copper alembic with copper coil, ultimately releasing the Tequila at to 55% ABV. Proofed with the deep well water on site, the Tequila stabilizes for 15-30 days in stainless tanks before being bottled and labeled by hand.
