Few anejo tequilas carry the weight of history that Fortaleza does. Produced at one of the oldest family distilleries in the Tequila region of Jalisco, this expression from fifth-generation master distiller Guillermo Sauza is a slow, deliberate study in tradition.

Fortaleza Anejo is aged more than one year in American oak barrels, allowing the rich, hand-crafted character of this 100% agave tequila to deepen into something truly exceptional. Verified Additive Free by Tequila Matchmaker, every bottle is hand-blown glass, a nod to the artisanal spirit that defines this Jalisco distillery.

  • Nose: Inviting aromas of cooked agave, caramel, butterscotch, and warm butter open alongside toasted oak and a whisper of cinnamon.
  • Palate: Roasted agave leads the way, layered with baking spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, warm vanilla, a curl of smoke, and sweet honey.
  • Finish: Long and satisfying, with toasty oak giving way to a smooth close of cooked agave, black pepper, and creamy butter.

Fortaleza Anejo shines served neat or on a single large rock, though its depth of flavor also makes it a show-stopping choice in an Old Fashioned or a Tequila Manhattan.

Best enjoyed neat or on the rocks to appreciate its full complexity. Made from 100% blue agave, distilled in the Tequila region of Jalisco, Mexico, under NOM 1493.

Tequila Fortaleza, is arguably one of the most sensational, artisanally made Tequilas in the world of agave spirits. Since their debut in 2005, Tequila Fortaleza has amassed a following of aficionados unrivaled by any other brand with only 15 years in the market. However the roots of Fortaleza, reach far past their recent history, 140 years to be exact, to the beginning of the Tequila industry itself. Owner/operator Guillermo Erickson Sauza is the fifth generation of the infamous Sauza family, whose legacy in Tequila began back in 1843 with his great-great grandfather, Cenobio Sauza.
