Crafted to honor 130 years of Casa San Matias, this anejo tequila is a rare tribute to tradition, pressed using the original basalt tahona stone that has anchored the distillery for over a century.
Produced at Tequila San Matias de Jalisco in the highland region of Ojo de Agua de Latillas, Jalisco, this expression is made entirely by the tahona method, where slowly crushed blue agave yields a richly textured, additive free spirit. Aged 12 months in American oak barrels, it carries the depth and refinement that defines a well-rested anejo.
- Nose: Warm vanilla and toasted oak with hints of cooked agave and subtle earthiness from the stone-ground process.
- Palate: Smooth and indulgent with notes of dark chocolate, caramel, and roasted agave, rounded out by gentle barrel spice.
- Finish: Long and sweetly satisfying, with a lingering cocoa and oak warmth that invites another sip.
The San Matias Tahona Anejo shines neat or on the rocks as an after-dinner sipper, and brings exceptional depth to an Anejo Old Fashioned or a simple Tequila Manhattan.
Best enjoyed neat or over a large cube to let the flavors open fully. Made from 100% blue agave in the highlands of Jalisco, this is a tahona-crafted anejo tequila that earns its place among the finest expressions from San Matias.
