Four years of oak aging followed by a rest in glass sets Tapatio Excelencia Extra Anejo apart as one of the most patient and purposeful expressions in the Highlands tradition. The result is a tequila that rewards contemplation, balancing the raw soul of agave with the refinement only time can produce.
Crafted at La Altena distillery in Jalisco by legendary Master Distiller Carlos Camarena in partnership with Charbay's Marko Karakasevic, Tapatio Excelencia spends a full four years maturing in oak before being transferred to five-liter glass vessels for a final rest prior to bottling. This unhurried process preserves the integrity of the blue agave while layering in remarkable depth and complexity.
- Nose: Hot caramel apple, intense cooked agave, and soft floral tones tucked beneath a warm, inviting sweetness.
- Palate: An expressive blend of earthy agave, brown sugar, butterscotch, and traditional tequila spice, rounded out by whiskey-barrel oak and a hint of chocolatey black tea.
- Finish: Exceptionally long and rich with savory smoke and dry oak lingering well after the last sip, finishing with presence rather than sweetness.
Tapatio Excelencia is best appreciated neat or over a single large ice cube to let its full character unfold. For those who prefer a cocktail, it brings striking depth to an Old Fashioned or a classic Tequila Manhattan.
Serve neat or lightly chilled in a snifter to fully experience its aged complexity. Tapatio Excelencia Extra Anejo is produced from highland blue agave in the Jalisco region of Mexico.
