From the highlands of Arandas, Jalisco, Tapatio Anejo Tequila is a bold expression of Los Altos craftsmanship, aged 18 months in American white oak barrels previously used for bourbon and bottled at a striking 110 proof.
Master Distiller Felipe Camarena produces Tapatio at La Altena Distillery under NOM 1139, drawing on generations of agave expertise rooted in the red clay soils of Los Altos. The extended aging in ex-bourbon barrels coaxes remarkable depth from the highland blue agave while preserving the intensely agave-forward character that defines the Tapatio style.
- Nose: Sweet cooked agave, cream, toasted almonds, and baked apples
- Palate: Spicy pepper and oak lead the way, with agave holding stride alongside baking chocolate and stewed fruits
- Finish: Soft and silky with a satisfying, persisting spice
The bold proof and layered complexity of this Tapatio Anejo make it a natural fit for a classic Tequila Old Fashioned or a refined Oaxacan-style cocktail alongside smoky mezcal. It is equally rewarding sipped neat, where the full range of its character can be appreciated without distraction.
Best enjoyed neat or on a single large ice cube to let the aromas open gradually. Tapatio Anejo Tequila is crafted from 100% blue agave in the Los Altos highlands of Arandas, Jalisco.
