Born from one of the most elusive and slow-growing agaves in all of Oaxaca, Bozal Tepeztate Mezcal is a rare expression that rewards the patient and the curious in equal measure.
Crafted in Santa Ana del Rio, Oaxaca under NOM 472, this mezcal is made from the wild Tepeztate agave, a subspecies of the Marmorata family that clings to steep, rocky cliffsides and takes decades to reach maturity. Its dramatic quiotes bloom a vivid yellow at the end of the plant's life before going to seed, and that wildness translates directly into the spirit itself.
- Nose: Powerfully floral and expressive, with tropical fruits, fresh berries, and a lingering honeyed sweetness reminiscent of flan.
- Palate: Lush and tropical, with ripe papaya and complementary notes of orchard fruit and gentle earthiness woven throughout.
- Finish: Long and mineral-driven, with a wild, herbaceous quality that reflects the clifftop terroir of the Tepeztate agave.
Bozal Tepeztate Mezcal shines on its own, served neat, but its bold floral and tropical character makes it a captivating choice for a mezcal Negroni or a Naked and Famous cocktail.
Best enjoyed neat or with a single large ice cube to allow its complexity to open gradually. Sourced from Santa Ana del Rio, Oaxaca and crafted from wild Tepeztate agave, this is a bottle built for sipping and savoring.
