Crafted from wild-harvested Tobasiche agave in the highlands of Rio de Ejutla, Oaxaca, Bozal Tobasiche Mezcal is a rare expression rooted in patience and terroir. This Karwinskii-family agave spends twelve to thirteen years maturing before master distillers Don Adrian and Lucio Bautista coax its singular character into the bottle.
Produced under NOM 472, Bozal Tobasiche draws on generations of Oaxacan mezcal tradition. The wild Tobasiche agave is prized for its naturally cedar-like and herbaceous profile, and this expression honors that heritage with a production approach as unhurried as the plant itself.
- Nose: Sweet and inviting, with quince, anise, and a lifted minerality balanced by gentle herbaceous botanicals.
- Palate: Cedar, fresh herbs, and earthy agave character come forward alongside notes of quince and a clean, mineral backbone.
- Finish: Long and herbaceous, with an earthy depth and lingering botanical richness that rewards slow sipping.
Bozal Tobasiche Mezcal shines in a Mezcal Negroni, where its cedary botanicals play beautifully against sweet vermouth and Campari, and it brings an earthy complexity to a Tommy's Mezcal Margarita that is hard to replicate with any other spirit.
Best enjoyed neat or with a single large ice cube to let the aromas open fully. A rare wild-agave mezcal made from Tobasiche grown in Rio de Ejutla, Oaxaca, bottled at 94 proof.
