Bulleit Bourbon, the brand's Frontier Whiskey, is inspired by an old family recipe first made more than 150 years ago. It is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 90 proof, with an unusually high share of rye in the mash: about 68% corn, 28% rye and 4% malted barley. Special yeast strains and Kentucky limestone filtered water round out the recipe. The Bulleit Distilling Co. opened its distillery and visitor experience in Shelbyville, Kentucky, in 2017. The high rye gives it a bold, spicy character with a clean, smooth finish.
