A bold collaboration between Codigo 1530 and Playboy, the Rare Hare Anejo is a collector-worthy tequila rested over two years in Napa Valley Cabernet French White Oak wine barrels and finished in French oak Spanish Sherry-Fino casks.
Crafted at Varo Destileria in Amatitan, Jalisco under NOM 1616, this limited edition anejo tequila reflects the terroir-driven philosophy that defines Codigo 1530. The extended barrel program layers complexity rarely found in the category, while the sustainably sourced wooden box, wood stopper etched with the Playboy Bunny logo, and four included tasting glasses make this a presentation unlike anything on the shelf.
- Nose: Rich cooked agave, dried stone fruits, and warm peppery spice with hints of wine-barrel sweetness carried over from the Cabernet oak maturation.
- Palate: Deeply layered flavors of roasted agave, dark dried fruits, and a subtle nuttiness from the Sherry-Fino finish, balanced by gentle oak tannins and lingering spice.
- Finish: Long and warming, with a satisfying interplay of dried fruit, soft sherry notes, and a clean peppery close.
The Rare Hare Anejo holds its own neat or on a large rock, but its depth also makes it a standout in a Tequila Old Fashioned or a refined Paloma built with quality grapefruit and a touch of honey.
Best enjoyed neat or over a single large ice cube to let the complexity fully open up. Produced from highland-influenced blue agave at Varo Destileria in Amatitan, Jalisco.
