Born at the El Chiqueno estate in the sun-scorched Barrancas of El Arenal, Jalisco, this additive-free blanco from Cascahuin (NOM 1123) rests three months in ex-bourbon barrels before bottling at a robust 92 proof.

Produced at the legendary Tequila Cascahuin distillery, this plata expression draws from agave grown in a low ravine south of the Rio Santiago at 1,260 meters elevation, where intense heat coaxes flavors reminiscent of the mangos and local ciruela plum that thrive on the estate. The short bourbon barrel rest adds dimension without masking the raw character of the land, and its additive-free status, confirmed by Tequila Matchmaker, ensures every note is pure agave expression.

  • Nose: Light tones of caramel, tropical fruits, and bright citrus
  • Palate: Cooked agave with touches of bourbon, cinnamon, and cracked black pepper
  • Finish: Bright and lingering with a pleasant hit of cinnamon spice

The bold, angular profile of this Cascahuin blanco makes it a natural fit for a spiced Paloma or a classic Tequila Old Fashioned, where its pepper and cinnamon notes can take center stage alongside minimal mixers.

Best enjoyed neat or over a single large ice cube to let the terroir of El Arenal, Jalisco open up fully. An additive-free blanco tequila distilled at NOM 1123, Tequila Cascahuin.

Lagrimas is produced in collaboration with the Rosales family, of Tequila Cascahuin, lead by current Master Distiller, Salvador “Chava” Rosales Trejo – the fourth generation of his family, their distilling tradition dating back to 1904 in El Arenal, Jalisco; within the heart of the “Valley” of Tequila. Each bottling carries the vintage date of harvest, the name of the single ranch, as well as details pertaining to its elevation, location and distinctive characteristics. Lagrimas del Valle translates to “Tears of the Valley” – representing the tears that form both on a tasting glass from high quality Agave spirits, as well as the “tears” or condensed spirits falling into the still, the transformation of Agave into Tequila itself.
