From the sun-scorched ravines of El Arenal, Jalisco, this Lagrimas Reposado is a bold expression of terroir-driven tequila crafted at the storied Tequila Cascahuin distillery under NOM 1123. Aged 3 months in ex-bourbon barrels, El Chiqueno Verde delivers a high-proof reposado with an angular, fruit-forward character that sets it apart from the category.

The El Chiqueno estate sits south of the Rio Santiago near Amatitan at 1,260 meters elevation, nestled in a low barranca where intense heat encourages the growth of mangos and ciruela, a locally grown plum prized for its bright acidity. Blue agave harvested from this microclimate carries that vivid tropical energy straight into the glass. Confirmed additive-free by Tequila Matchmaker, this reposado tequila from El Arenal is an honest, unadorned expression of place.

  • Nose: Light tones of caramel, tropical fruits, and citrus with hints of ripe mango and a gentle sweetness from the bourbon barrel maturation.
  • Palate: Cooked agave comes forward alongside touches of bourbon, cinnamon, and black pepper for a bold, layered sip.
  • Finish: Bright and full with a lightly sweet character and a lingering kiss of cinnamon spice.

The spice-forward profile of this reposado makes it a natural fit for a classic Spicy Margarita or a well-built Old Fashioned riff where the bourbon barrel maturation bridges the gap beautifully between agave and whiskey traditions.

Best enjoyed neat or on a single large ice cube to let the full terroir expression open up. Lagrimas Reposado El Chiqueno Verde is a 100% blue agave reposado tequila sourced from the El Arenal highlands of Jalisco.

Lágrimas is produced in collaboration with the Rosales family, of Tequila Cascahuin, lead by current Master Distiller, Salvador “Chava” Rosales Trejo – the fourth generation of his family, their distilling tradition dating back to 1904 in El Arenal, Jalisco; within the heart of the “Valley” of Tequila. Each bottling carries the vintage date of harvest, the name of the single ranch, as well as details pertaining to its elevation, location and distinctive characteristics. Lagrimas del Valle translates to “Tears of the Valley” – representing the tears that form both on a tasting glass from high quality Agave spirits, as well as the “tears” or condensed spirits falling into the still, the transformation of Agave into Tequila itself.
LOCATION

El Arenal, Jalisco

El Arenal sits at about 1,450 meters in the Tequila valley west of Guadalajara and is known as the gateway to agave country. Its name comes from the sandy ground of the first settlement, and it belonged to Amatitán until it became its own municipality in 1923. Most of the land is flat or gently rolling farmland on volcanic rock, planted with blue agave and corn. Tequila making is the main industry, and the town lies within the Agave Landscape that UNESCO named a World Heritage Site in 2006.
