Why we love Tequila Ocho Añejo

ANEJO

Los Patos: This ranch is adjacent to a pond where ducks, “Los Patos” stop off on their north-south migrations. It is about 10 km west of the town of Jesus Maria in the direction of Mexico City. The ranch is on a hill that slopes to the west receiving sun in the afternoon. It has the characteristic red soil of the Highlands and is above 2200 meters in altitude. At harvest, the agaves were 7 years old and the average sugar content was 26.29%.

  • Nose: floral aromas, including hints of gardenia, mild citrus, light chocolate, but still lots of agave present
  • Taste: honey, butter, cooked agave, vanilla and light caramel sweetness
  • Finish:  Oily, with notes of brown spice and pepper
  • NOM #1474
  • 100% Blue Weber Agave
  • ABV :40% Alc. Vol. (80 Proof)

A WINNING PARTNERSHIP

Tequila Ocho is made by Carlos Camarena, a third generation Tequilero, in partnership with Tomas Estes. This dynamic partnership delivers heritage and tradition, coupled with innovation. Carlos and Tomas produce tequila that is made slowly in an artisanal way. The result is a fine quality spirit that accentuates the agave flavour. It is concentrated and complex while remaining balanced and easy to drink.

CHARACTER

Tequila Ocho demonstrates that “terroir” exists in agave. Ocho’s single estates show through their distinct aroma and character. Tequila Ocho opens up and develops in the glass the same way a fine wine does.

INNOVATION

Ocho is the first tequila to designate both the year it was produced and the precise field from which the agave was harvested as is done with fine wines. Each estate, or “rancho” produces a limited amount of agave, each vintage of Ocho is both rare and collectable.

About the Brand

Tequila Ocho comes to the Sip Tequila portfolio by way of Carlos Camarena, a third generation Tequilero, and Tomas Estes, tequila legend and global spirits ambassador. Some would say this is the most dynamic and intense partnership in the tequila world, bringing to life decades of experience and deep understanding and respect for the agave plant. With a truly artisanal approach, Tequila Ocho brings terroir in Tequila to life, celebrating single estate agave harvests and yearly vintages, making them rare and collectible. Not to mention, delicious.
