Earthy, dry, and alive with character, The Producer Espadin Mezcal is a pure Espadin expression built to impress whether poured neat or shaken into your favorite cocktail. Its higher-than-average strength integrates seamlessly, delivering a mezcal that is bold without ever feeling brash.

Crafted from 100% Espadin agave, this mezcal brings together the hallmarks of a well-made traditional spirit: pronounced earthiness, clean minerality, and a smoke presence that is present but never overpowering. The result is a mezcal that respects its roots while remaining remarkably versatile for modern drinking occasions.

  • Nose: Bright citrus lifts the glass, followed by nuanced vegetal notes and a thread of subtle, inviting smoke.
  • Palate: Earthy and dry with grounding minerality, layered with gentle vegetal complexity and a whisper of spice.
  • Finish: Clean and lingering, with the smoke settling into a soft, mineral-driven close that keeps you coming back.

The Producer Espadin Mezcal was practically made for a mezcal margarita, where its earthy backbone and citrus brightness find a natural home. It also shines in a mezcal negroni, holding its own against bitter and sweet elements with ease.

Serve neat in a wide-mouthed copita glass to let the aromas fully open, or over a single large ice cube to temper the spirit and reveal additional layers. Produced from pure Espadin agave, this expression is an ideal introduction to the depth and diversity that quality mezcal has to offer.

Location: La Noria, Oaxaca
Distiller icon
Master Distiller: Juan Pacheco Santos
The Producer Mezcal began when lifelong friends from both sides of the border traveled through Oaxaca and set out to make a smooth, approachable small batch mezcal. Their partner is maestro mezcalero Juan Pacheco, born in Ejutla in 1963, who returned to La Noria in 2009 to revive a dormant distillery and replant agave. Third-generation mezcalero Celestino Sernas López of Santiago Matatlán is the brand's second maestro. Agave roasts about three days in an earthen pit, is crushed with a stone tahona and ferments 8 to 14 days in open wooden tanks. Distillation runs over a wood fire in refrescador and copper pot stills.

La Noria is a small farming community near Ejutla, at the southern end of Oaxaca's Valles Centrales, where the valley sits at around 1,460 meters. A dormant distillery here was brought back to life in 2009, and agave was replanted to supply it. Agave is still grown and harvested by hand, then roasted for about three days in an earthen pit over rock and local wood. It is crushed with a stone tahona and fermented in open wooden tanks for one to two weeks, depending on the weather.
