A recipe born in 1971 and passed down through generations, Yola 1971 Mezcal is a celebration of Oaxacan tradition, feminine craftsmanship, and the wild complexity of two agaves united in a single bottle.
Produced at Yola Distillery in San Juan del Rio, Oaxaca, this mezcal is crafted from a blend of espadin and madre cuishe agaves, following a family recipe that founder Yola Jimenez inherited from her grandfather. Every bottle is produced and bottled exclusively by women employed at fair wages, making each pour a statement of both quality and purpose. NOM 524.
- Nose: Sweet citrus, fresh cut grass, and a warm undercurrent of butterscotch
- Palate: Prominent citrus and earthy smoke lead the way, joined by cool mint, green pepper, bright lime, and a full-flavored agave core with a slightly oily, richly textured mouthfeel and beautiful minerality
- Finish: A long and pleasant finish that drifts into sweet vanilla and cinnamon, lingering warmly
Yola 1971 Mezcal shines equally neat and in cocktails. Its citrus-forward complexity and smoky depth make it a natural fit for a Mezcal Negroni or an Oaxacan Old Fashioned.
Best enjoyed neat to appreciate its full layered character, though equally at home in craft cocktails. Made from espadin and madre cuishe agaves, produced in San Juan del Rio, Oaxaca.
