Named for 1940, the birth year of founder Don Ricardo Lopez, Campo Azul 1940 Blanco is a highland tequila rooted in generational agave heritage from Jesus Maria, Jalisco. Stone oven roasting and a 78-hour fermentation give this blanco a depth of character that sets it apart from the category.
Produced at Productos Finos de Agave under NOM 1416, this tequila draws on Don Ricardo's inherited knowledge of cultivating blue agave in the Los Altos highlands, a region prized for its mineral-rich soils and the sweet, herbaceous agave it produces. Traditional roasting and extended fermentation honor the craft his father passed down.
- Nose: Sweet and vegetal cooked agave with herbaceous character and hints of pepper
- Palate: Fresh herbs and agave up front, followed by white pepper spice, warm lemon, and damp earth
- Finish: Clean and bright with lingering minerality and a gentle pepper warmth
Campo Azul 1940 Blanco shines in a classic Paloma, where its citrus and herbal notes play beautifully against grapefruit, and holds its own in a well-made Margarita without getting lost behind the lime.
Best enjoyed neat or on the rocks to appreciate its highland character; crafted from blue agave grown in Jesus Maria, Jalisco.
