Named for the birth year of founder Don Ricardo Lopez, Campo Azul 1940 Reposado is a highland tequila rooted in family legacy and the agave-rich soils of Jesus Maria, Jalisco.
Under Master Distiller Pedro Hernandez Barba at NOM 1530, this reposado is rested six months in exhausted American white oak barrels previously used for tequila, preserving the spirit's agave-forward character while adding a whisper of oak and age. The result is mineral-driven and expressive, shaped by the cool highland climate that defines Jesus Maria's distinctive terroir.
- Nose: Creamy cooked agave, wet earth, light caramel, and butterscotch
- Palate: Cooked agave, full-bodied with an oily minerality, warm oranges, and cinnamon spice
- Finish: Light tannins with medium length
The balance of minerality and gentle spice makes Campo Azul 1940 Reposado a natural fit for a classic Paloma or a refined Tequila Old Fashioned where its earthy complexity can shine without being overshadowed.
Best enjoyed neat or on the rocks to appreciate its highland character; made from blue agave grown in the Jalisco highlands region.
