A first-of-its-kind release, Matices Reposado Batch 1 is a Highlands tequila shaped by years of patient agave cultivation and finished in Napa Valley Chardonnay barrels, making it one of the most distinctive reposado expressions available today.

Crafted from premium blue agave harvested from the Highlands of Jalisco during 2015 and 2016, the plants were jimado in 2023 to ensure full maturity before distillation. The tequila was then aged in first-use American white oak barrels previously seasoned with Napa Valley Chardonnay, drawing subtle wine-influenced character into each sip. Barrels 2, 3, and 4 from the Matices exclusive collection form this inaugural batch, a small-production release built for collectors and connoisseurs alike.

  • Nose: Ripe agave with soft oak, hints of white fruit, and a delicate floral lift from the Chardonnay-seasoned barrels
  • Palate: Smooth and layered, with cooked agave sweetness, toasted vanilla, a touch of orchard fruit, and gentle spice
  • Finish: Long and refined, with warm wood notes and a lingering sweetness that reflects both the Highland agave and the wine barrel influence

Matices Reposado Batch 1 shines on its own over a large ice cube, but its wine-kissed complexity also makes it an exceptional choice in a Tequila Old Fashioned or a refined Paloma where its softer oak character can take center stage.

Best enjoyed neat or on the rocks to fully appreciate its depth. Made from blue agave sourced from the Highlands of Jalisco, this is a limited first-batch reposado from Matices Tequila that rewards slow sipping and careful attention.

Matices de Mi Tierra was born from the vision of a young Mexican woman and her love for her land, its agave fields and good tequila. It is made at Compañía Tequilera de Arandas (NOM 1460) in Arandas, in the Jalisco Highlands, where the agave is cooked in autoclaves, roller milled, fermented in stainless steel with deep well water and distilled twice in copper pot stills. Batch 1 Reposado uses Highlands agave from 2015 and 2016 plantings, harvested in 2023. It rests in first-use American white oak barrels that once held Napa Valley Chardonnay.

Arandas sits at about 2,000 meters in Los Altos de Jalisco, the highland plateau east of Guadalajara. Its red, clay-rich soils and mild, temperate climate let blue agave grow slowly and build up sugar, the source of the sweet, fruity and floral style the Highlands are known for. Agave fields cover much of the municipality, and Arandas is one of the busiest tequila-making towns in Mexico. The town is also known for its giant church bell, often called the largest in Latin America.
