Tequila Ocho Single Barrel Añejo is aged, high-proof, cask-strength Tequila that highlights the effect of wood ageing on the agave-forward profile Ocho is known for through unique picks. The high-proof and limited availability makes this an excellent Añejo for the Tequila connoisseur.
Estate: Rancho Mirandillas 2024 - located less than 1 km from the small town of the same name, in Ayotlan Municipality, Jalisco. It sits at 1,595 meters above sea level, which makes it one of the lowest altitude (and highest average temperature) fields ever used for Tequila Ocho production. The land is flat with some small stones, has a deep clayish soil with medium fertility, and is grayish in color. In this area the main crops are corn, wheat and sorghum, and this the first time in more than 50 years that the field was used for growing agave. The field is mostly surrounded by corn and sorghum fields, thus fully exposed to sunlight with only some guamuchil trees by the East. With 63,000 plants of fully mature agave, the yield was almost 2,217 ton, an average weight of 35.3kgs (78 pounds) each piña, and a very high sugar content of almost 31%.
Tasting Notes: Full cooked agave notes, dark cacao, coffee, nutmeg, dried fruits. Deep and complex, long-lasting peppery finish with a buttery mouthfeel. The agave is never lost, always the center of attention.
