A landmark release commemorating 80 years of Don Julio Gonzalez's legacy, this ultra-premium extra anejo tequila from Jalisco is one of only 4,000 cases released in 2022, making it among the most coveted limited expressions in Don Julio's storied portfolio.
Crafted at NOM 1449 in Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, Don Julio 1942 Ultima Reserva is built on the Solera aging method, which layers and harmonizes tequilas of varying ages to achieve extraordinary depth and complexity. The spirit begins its maturation in bourbon barrels before finishing in seasoned Madeira wine casks, a process that bridges the robust character of extra anejo tequila with the refined elegance of fine wine tradition.
- Nose: Toasted oak, caramel, cooked agave, and vanilla with warm, inviting sweetness
- Palate: Rich cooked agave leads into layers of apricot, orange, caramel, and vanilla for a luxuriously rounded mid-palate
- Finish: Long and honeyed, with lingering notes of cooked agave, apricot, orange, and caramel that speak to the depth of extended aging
Given its complexity and sipping quality, Don Julio 1942 Ultima Reserva is best enjoyed neat or over a single large ice cube. For those who prefer a refined cocktail, it elevates a classic Old Fashioned or a Tequila Manhattan beautifully.
Best served neat or with minimal dilution to fully appreciate the Solera aging process. Produced from blue agave in Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, by Diageo Mexico Operaciones under NOM 1449.
