The depth of an aged tequila, the brilliance of a blanco: Espolon Anejo Cristalino achieves something most spirits only attempt. This exceptional cristalino tequila is a rare blend of anejo and extra anejo, charcoal-filtered with a deliberately light touch that preserves the rich barrel character other producers filter away.

Crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave in the highlands tradition, Espolon uses restrained charcoal filtration to achieve crystal clarity without sacrificing the vanilla, caramel, and warm spice that patient oak aging develops. The result is a cristalino that reads as genuinely complex rather than merely polished, honoring both the aging process and the clean visual appeal that defines the style.

  • Nose: Warm vanilla and toasted caramel with whispers of baking spice and a subtle sweetness from the agave
  • Palate: Silky and layered, with oak-driven caramel, soft toffee, and a gentle peppery spice balanced by cooked agave richness
  • Finish: Smooth and lingering, with warm spice and a clean, bright clarity that showcases the filtration without losing depth

Espolon Anejo Cristalino shines served neat or on a single large ice cube, and its refined smoothness makes it a standout in an elevated Tequila Old Fashioned or a Cristalino Paloma where the spirit can genuinely be tasted.

Best enjoyed neat or over ice to appreciate its full character. Made from 100% Blue Weber agave, this cristalino tequila represents the artful middle ground between the richness of aged spirits and the vibrancy of an unaged blanco.

Espolòn is made at Casa San Nicolás (NOM 1440), the distillery Cirilo Oropeza began building in 1996 in the highlands of Los Altos de Jalisco. Agave is steam cooked in custom stainless steel autoclaves Cirilo designed, crushed in roller mills, and fermented while classical music plays for the yeast. The spirit runs through a combination of column and pot stills, and today Maestro Tequilero Jesús Susunaga leads production. Espolòn means the spur of a rooster, and every label carries Ramón the rooster with art inspired by José Guadalupe Posada.

Map of Jalisco, Mexico, with San Ignacio Cerro Gordo marked

San Ignacio Cerro Gordo is a small town in Los Altos de Jalisco, between Tepatitlán and Arandas, at the foot of the Cerro Gordo that gives it part of its name. Long part of Arandas, it became Jalisco's 125th municipality on January 1, 2007. Brickmaking and farming are its traditional work, and blue agave, grown for tequila, appears on the town's coat of arms. The red soils and cool nights of the plateau favor slow-growing, sweet agave.
