Espolon Reposado sits in the sweet spot where bright Highland agave character meets the warmth of American oak, delivering real complexity without sacrificing the freshness that makes this style so compelling.

Crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave sourced from the Los Altos Highlands of Jalisco, Espolon Reposado is aged in new American oak barrels just long enough to build depth while keeping the spirit honest. Additive free and bottled at a clean, approachable proof, it stands as one of the best values in the reposado category.

  • Nose: Fresh agave sweetness with vanilla, warm baking spice, and a gentle lift of light oak.
  • Palate: Smooth and balanced, with cooked agave, caramel, citrus zest, and a touch of toasted wood.
  • Finish: Medium length, clean and slightly sweet, with lingering vanilla and a whisper of spice.

Espolon Reposado shines in a classic Paloma, where its citrus brightness plays beautifully against grapefruit soda, and it brings genuine character to a well-built Tommy's Margarita without overwhelming the glass.

Equally enjoyable neat or on the rocks, this is a Highland reposado tequila made from 100% Blue Weber agave grown in the Los Altos region of Jalisco, Mexico.

Espolòn is made at Casa San Nicolás (NOM 1440), the distillery Cirilo Oropeza began building in 1996 in the highlands of Los Altos de Jalisco. Agave is steam cooked in custom stainless steel autoclaves Cirilo designed, crushed in roller mills, and fermented while classical music plays for the yeast. The spirit runs through a combination of column and pot stills, and today Maestro Tequilero Jesús Susunaga leads production. Espolòn means the spur of a rooster, and every label carries Ramón the rooster with art inspired by José Guadalupe Posada.

Map of Jalisco, Mexico, with San Ignacio Cerro Gordo marked

San Ignacio Cerro Gordo is a small town in Los Altos de Jalisco, between Tepatitlán and Arandas, at the foot of the Cerro Gordo that gives it part of its name. Long part of Arandas, it became Jalisco's 125th municipality on January 1, 2007. Brickmaking and farming are its traditional work, and blue agave, grown for tequila, appears on the town's coat of arms. The red soils and cool nights of the plateau favor slow-growing, sweet agave.
