Aged 18 months in American white oak barrels and then filtered to crystal clarity, San Matias Cristalino Anejo Tequila delivers the depth of a well-rested spirit with the clean, luminous appearance of a blanco.

Rooted in over 135 years of Jalisco tequila tradition, San Matias brings generations of agave expertise to this additive-free cristalino expression. The extended oak aging coaxes rich complexity from the blue weber agave, while the clarification process strips color without stripping character, preserving the spirit's signature balance of sweetness and savory nuance.

  • Nose: Warm agave honey, toasted oak, and a subtle whisper of olive with soft vanilla in the background
  • Palate: Silky and rounded, with honeyed agave sweetness, gentle wood spice, and a distinctive olive-forward note that sets this cristalino apart
  • Finish: Smooth and lingering, with a warm, slightly sweet fade that reflects the patience of the aging process

San Matias Cristalino Anejo shines in an Anejo Sour or a refined Tequila Old Fashioned, where its layered sweetness and savory edge elevate the cocktail without overpowering it.

Best enjoyed neat or over a single large ice cube to appreciate its full range of flavors; made from blue weber agave in the Jalisco region of Mexico.

Casa San Matías was founded in 1886 in the Jalisco Highlands and is one of Mexico's oldest family-owned tequila distilleries. It distills in Ojo de Agua de Latillas, a spring-fed village near Tepatitlán, under NOM 1103. In 1993 it introduced Gran Reserva, recognized as the first Extra Añejo, well before the category was formally defined. The Tahona line is made the old way, with stone ovens, a stone tahona, wood fermentation tanks, deep well water and copper pot stills. Carmen Villarreal has led the company since 1997 and was the first woman to head a tequila distillery.
LOCATION

Ojo de Agua de Latillas, Jalisco

Ojo de Agua de Latillas is a small farming village in the municipality of Tepatitlán, in Los Altos de Jalisco. Tepatitlán, the nearby municipal seat, sits at about 1,820 meters, with dry, mild winters and warm, wet summers. The plateau's red clay soils are planted widely with blue agave, and the municipality counts several tequila distilleries, one of them in the village. Cool highland nights let the agave here mature slowly and build the sweet, fruity character Highland tequila is known for.
