Don Julio 70 Cristalino Tequila is a landmark expression that reimagines what anejo tequila can be, filtered through activated charcoal to achieve a luminous clarity without sacrificing a single note of aged complexity. Born from the highlands of Jalisco, it bridges the richness of long barrel aging with the crisp, clean character of a blanco.

Crafted at Diageo Mexico Operaciones under NOM 1449 in Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, Don Julio 70 begins as a fully matured anejo tequila aged in American white oak barrels. The proprietary filtration process strips the amber color while preserving the deep, oak-kissed flavors that define the Don Julio legacy, resulting in a cristalino of rare elegance.

  • Nose: Fresh citrus, sweet vanilla, and gentle hints of toasted oak with a whisper of caramel
  • Palate: Smooth and rounded with notes of ripe fruit, light chocolate, and warm baking spice layered over a silky agave backbone
  • Finish: Long and clean with a lingering sweetness and a subtle oakiness that fades gracefully

Don Julio 70 Cristalino shines in an elevated Paloma, where its fruit-forward clarity lets grapefruit and sparkling water sing, and it brings a sophisticated depth to a classic Tequila Soda that few spirits can match.

Best enjoyed neat or over a large ice cube to appreciate its full range of aromas and flavors. Don Julio 70 is made from 100% blue agave grown in the highland region of Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico.

Don Julio is named for Don Julio González, who founded his La Primavera distillery in Atotonilco el Alto, in the Jalisco Highlands, in 1942. Jimador families who have worked with the brand for three generations harvest the agave plant by plant. The piñas are cooked in masonry ovens, fermented with a yeast strain Don Julio developed himself, and distilled twice in pot stills. He was among the first to age tequila beyond the standard rules. Ultima Reserva is made from the last agave field he planted with his family, in 2006.
LOCATION

Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco

Atotonilco el Alto sits on the southern edge of Los Altos de Jalisco, where the land rises from about 1,600 to 2,200 meters above the Ciénega plain. Its Nahuatl name means place of hot water, after the warm springs around town. Blue agave grows across the surrounding farmland in clay soils over volcanic basalt, and tequila making is the municipality's largest industry and employer. Highland agave from here is known for a sweet, fruity and floral profile.
