La Pulga Reposado Tequila is a small-batch, additive-free expression crafted from 100% highlands agave and aged 7 to 11 months in ex-Tennessee whiskey barrels, bringing a distinctly American oak influence to a traditionally rooted spirit.

Sourced from the high-altitude agave fields of the Jalisco highlands, La Pulga Reposado is produced in small batches with zero additives, allowing the natural character of the agave to shine through every stage of production. The extended rest in former Tennessee whiskey barrels lends the spirit a warm, layered depth that sets it apart from younger expressions.

  • Nose: Cooked agave with subtle earthy sweetness
  • Palate: Caramel, licorice, honey, and tropical fruit
  • Finish: Smooth and lingering with balanced complexity

The rich, well-rounded profile of La Pulga Reposado makes it an excellent choice for a classic Tequila Old Fashioned or a refined Paloma, where its caramel and honey notes can complement rather than compete with other ingredients.

Best enjoyed neat to fully appreciate its complexity, though equally at home in premium cocktails. Made from 100% highlands agave with no additives, La Pulga Reposado is a compelling expression of what patient, small-batch tequila production can achieve.

La Pulga was founded in Fort Worth, Texas, by restaurateur Sarah Castillo, Andrew De La Torre and Stephen Slaughter, and is named for the open-air markets where people gather. Its tequila is made at Agroindustria Guadalajara, NOM 1068, a family distillery founded in 1995 in Capilla de Guadalupe, 6,400 feet up in the Jalisco Highlands. Half the agave roasts 36 hours in stone hornos and half steams 24 hours in an autoclave, then it ferments in open-air tanks with yeast cultured from nearby citrus orchards while rock music plays. It is twice distilled in pot stills, and every bottle carries an alebrije, a spirit animal from Mexican folk art.

Capilla de Guadalupe is a small city in the municipality of Tepatitlán, in Los Altos de Jalisco, set at about 2,020 meters on a highland valley ringed by hills such as Cerro Gordo. Founded in 1820, it lies inside the tequila denomination of origin, and tequila is its leading industry, along with agave syrup and inulin made from the same plant. The red soils and cool winters of the plateau, where snow has occasionally fallen, suit slow-growing blue agave.
